Theodosius II, 402-450. Solidus (Gold, 20 mm, 4.42 g, 12 h), Constantinopolis, circa 420-422. D N THEODO-SIVS P F AVG Helmeted, pearl-diademed and cuirassed bust of Theodosius II facing, his head turned slightly to right, holding spear over his shoulder in his right hand and with a shield, decorated with a horseman spearing fallen foe, on his left shoulder. Rev. VOT XX MVLT XXX / CONOB Victory standing left, holding long jeweled cross in her right hand; above cross, star. Depeyrot 74/2. RIC 219. A few nicks and with a graffito of K on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
